A more courteous World
Democracy is a word that is too difficult to understand by the average Joe and Jane. Freedom is too vague. Freedom to do what and freedom not to do what. Many would definitely appreciate more courtesy.
Blazing the Trail
One of the most untapped natural resource is the human mind. Instead of Ministry of Manpower, rename it Ministry of Manpower Development. Rename schools into Development of Human Potential instead.
Living around the zoo
Would you fancy living around the zoo. Wake up to the sounds of the animals. Would the smell of the animal park be great for you or just a little too much? Imagine, looking over your veranda to see the lions, zebra or tigers. Would you pay a premium to have a view of the lions or the deers?
Which would you prefer? People now rethink about having a view of the sea due to the Tsunami. Imagine going to work to discuss about what you have just witnessed in your zoo. I look forward to the day when animals, birds, fishes can be as accessible to us as shopping centres, that they be incorporated in our surroundings and environment as much as possible. Plants, animals, birds, fishes are part of our well-being. Let's not forget them. It's better than having bolts of electricity being passed into our brains, that's for sure. Let's not destroy our natural heritage in the name of progress. I rather that we do not progress in such areas that destroy our natural heritage.

Singapore - Something for everyone
There has been much buzz about Integrated Resorts in Singapore where people can gamble in the casinos. Gamblers are welcome to gamble untill they are starry eyed. Pubs welcome drinkers to drink until they are numb. Just don't drink and drive. Take a taxi instead. Nature lovers can walk in MacRitchie Reservoir, Botanical gardens, Pierce Reservoir and many more places. Animals lovers can visit the Zoological Gardens, Bird Paradise and the Night Safari.
Africa - Poverty?
Africa has often been portrayed as a country with one of the poorest people in the world. But in actual fact, Africa is very rich in scenic and has fantastic herds of animals with their migration habits. Africa is one of the unspoiled places in the world with many species of birds and animals. Let's hope that Africa in development will not lose out on its animals or the world will indeed be much poorer.
China - Taiwan Issue
I guess people in Taiwan will want to know if Taiwan will be richer or poorer under China. Who would want to choose to become poorer? On the other hand, who wouldn't want to be richer?
Promoting Cloth Bags rather than plastic bags
Will the use of cloth bags be better than plastic bags? Cloth bags can be re-used. Cloth bags are more easily decomposed. China could go into production of cloth bags cheaply. Less people will complain about cheaper cloth bags if this will go towards preserving our planet Earth.

Maid issue
Before anyone writes on the maid issue. Please have the experience first, otherwise, you do not know what you are talking about.
Come To Singapore For Your Summer Holidays
and visit the region as well. Set up your anti-terrorist, aid relief headquarters here in Singapore. Come and experience the Singapore Way Of Life. Send as many of your people to try the Singapore experience. If you think you can make Singapore an even greater place to live in, Come, Come, Come.
Jobs for the Elderly
There has been some negative comments on elderly taking on jobs as cleaners and street sweepers. Firstly, helping to keep our community clean is a job one can take pride in. In addition, it provides the necessary exercise required to live healthily. Yes, some elderly can provide good child care too.
Administration of Aid Relief
Firstly, divide the areas that require aid into sectors. Have a Sector Coordinator in charge of each sector. Under each Sector Coordinator, have sub-Sector Coordinators and this sector can have Relief camps each of about 3000 under their charge. Food relief will then be distributed to the Relief camp leaders who will sign and acknowledge the food received. The Camp Co-ordinator can be drawn from the people who actually require the aid. The Camp Co-ordinator will have a register of the names of all the people who in turn will also sign at the end of the month the amount of aid received and these can be published on the internet. You can think of other measures to ensure that aid does actually reach the people who need it.
Does everyone make a good parent?
It has been assumed that everyone makes good parents. Just as, some people make good engineers and some will not, some make good lawyers and some will not, some make good doctors and some will not, yet it has been taken that everyone makes good parents. Such is definitely not the case. Who then will pay for the upbringing of children abandoned by their parents? The State could pay for the upbringing of these children and when they grow up and find jobs, these children will pay back to the State through additional tax. This will give an opportunity for children who have been abused, neglected or abandoned to fully develop their potential. Another way could be to set up a children’s fund and the sponsors be given shares from this fund and when the children grow up and find jobs, they contribute back to the fund.

Why the poor remain poor?
Most of the poorest people probably do not even subscribe to newspapers, so how do they know where to apply for jobs. To apply for jobs, you need to be able to write a resume and send it to the company. If they can't even afford to feed themselves, can they afford to buy paper, pen and stamps. If they do not have the skills for the job, do they know where they can get the training? Would they even have enough money to take a bus? Are they educated enough to be able to read the advertisements in the newspapers?
Rag To Riches Advertisements
30 January 2005
So far, most advertisements use celebrities and now, even Donald Trump.. can you believe it? I am not sure how many people will support the products using Donald Trump. Would you make a billionaire even richer? Most people are attracted by rag to riches stories. If advertisers were to use faces from the poorest segment of society, show them at their best, this will probably attract more supporters for the product. Many people want to improve lives all over the world and if they know that the advertiser is improving the life of an individual every week from the poorest segment of society, this will definitely increase sales of their products. It's a win-win situation.
